Reflexology session - £32
4 sessions (booked in advance) - £115
Reflexology works on the principle that there are zones or areas on the feet which correspond to different organs and parts of the body. It is a unique method that uses pressure over the reflex areas to relieve stress and tension, improve the blood supply and promote well-being.
Reflexology aims to treat the imbalances of each individual and to alleviate and improve symptoms. It does not however diagnose a specific medical problem.
When first visiting a reflexologist, a brief medical history will be taken. The treatment itself is usually performed with you sitting up on a couch in a safe environment. You will be asked to remove footwear and socks before the treatment.
Your reflexologist may initially examine your feet before commencing with the precise reflexology massage movements. The particular type of movements involved requires the application of an appropriate pressure using the thumb and fingers and you may find some areas quite tender. Let your therapist know if the pressure is uncomfortable. Overall you should find the session relaxing.
Reflexology has been reported to have had a positive effect in people with symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome, multiple sclerosis, dementia and also for cancer palliation, where one research study at a hospice identified relaxation, relief from tension and anxiety, feelings of comfort and improved well-being as beneficial effects of their course of reflexology.
