Podiatry (also known as chiropody) is the diagnosis and treatment by podiatrists (chiropodists) of diseases and other disorders of the feet. Podiatrists are highly skilled health professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
If you suffer with foot or heel pain, then advice about the appropriate treatment (from a Podiatrist or Osteopath) can be given.
If you are a sports man or woman you may encounter problems at some point due to the extra stresses and strains your feet have to adjust to. Chiropody can deal with some of these sports related issues.
A general foot health check can be performed and advice given by a state registered chiropodist if you request a Consultation. New clients must have a consultation before their first treatment - this is usually part of the first session at our clinic.
Chiropody treatment may include your toe nails cut and filed, callus & corns treated and feet massaged. Fully trained and HCPC registered podiatrists are able to treat all ages, including the elderly and those with conditions such as diabetes.
Arthritic foot pain can be relieved with toe shields, padding or alteration to footwear.
Verrucae can be treated with chemicals or Liquid Cryogen (freezing). Regular treatments are usually required to achieve the best results.
Normal chiropody treatments last up to 30 minutes. However, if you have foot problems that take longer to treat, we can offer treatments up to 50 minutes, at an additional cost.
We sell a range of foot care creams and heel balm. Your chiropodist may recommend that you use these creams on a daily basis. Read the leaflet about Flexitol foot care products.

Dry and cracked heels are commonly caused by a loss of ‘elasticity’ in the skin when dryness sets in, or when the skin thickens and cracks or breaks under pressure, which can occur through everyday activities such as walking and exercise. The best treatment is one that contains urea, which is a moisturiser produced naturally by our skin, such as Flexitol Heel Balm. It contains 25% urea and is medically proven to hydrate dry, cracked heels.
Home Treatment for Infected Nails
To help combat infected nails, fungal infections and problems like Athlete's Foot, we sell ClearZal, Curanail and Mykored.
Curanail is a bottle of lacquer, like a nail varnish, that can be used for up to two nails. It's effective against mild fungal infections that start at the tip of the nail and spread towards the base.
Fungal infections occur deep within the nail, making them difficult to treat. That's why Curanail remains active in the affected area (and is watertight and soap-resistant) for up to a week. This gives its active ingredient time to penetrate the nail bed, and target the source of the infection. You'll need to keep using Curanail until the infected nail grows out.
Mykored is a safe, painless and effective treatment of fungal skin and nail infections and verrucae. With anti-fungal ingredients it offers excellent prevention and treatment for Athelete's Foot. Effective in treating and preventing the causes of foot odour at a microbial level. As a topical solution it comes in an easy to use tincture spray which you would apply to the skin and between your toes and nails. Suitable for use on all skin types and for diabetics.
Clearzal is a toenail antimicrobial solution with 'healing power' for infected nails. It kills 99.9% of the germs and microbes that can cause nail infections. It has been clinically tested and medically proven.
Nail infections including onychomycosis (nail fungus) can affect anyone, no matter how much you care for your nails. ClearZal solution is a clinical strength formulation containing a strong, broad spectrum, antimicrobial agent which is more effective than using an anti-fungal agent alone. ClearZal will also stop a bacterial infection which can be present in 50% of all cases of nail infections. Diabetics or anybody with circulatory problems should seek medical opinion before using ClearZal.
